So I shared with you previously that the universe sometimes hates me. Specifically in the form of technology. It happened here and here and about a billion other times throughout my life. This won’t be the last you hear of this. I guarantee it. I was messaging with a group member a few days ago and joked that my phone storage would be full at an outlet one of these days. I think you can see where this is going…
I drove over to the West Elm Outlet in Vacaville, CA. What should have been a 15 minute drive, became 40 due to some inexplicable traffic I’ve never experienced. I pulled into the parking lot, passed a man getting into his car and thought, “That guy looks a lot like the manager, Steven!” (Spoiler: That guy was definitely Stephen. My timing is truly impeccable). I kept the car AC blasting (it’s been over 100 degrees here) and pulled out my phone.
Oh, come on!!!
I immediately text my husband. We have a running joke about his phone’s lack of storage, so I knew he’d appreciate the irony of the situation. His storage is tiny. Mine is huge, so I really have no excuse. BUT, now that I screenshot outlet updates from across the nation for my Instagram stories, take 40,000 photos at outlets, and just generally have issues with deleting anything, I’ve finally found his pain. I spent the next 10 minutes very reluctantly deleting moments of my life.
I went inside, lingered awkwardly since Stephen was on lunch break and chatted with an employee named Sarah, who helped me connect to their wifi. In true “me” fashion, we kept getting errors that the password was incorrect when trying to log in. I thought we figured it all out and went live over on Instagram to give a real-time tour of the outlet and do a sneak peak of the giveaway prize. Of course, the WiFi kept cutting out. Lo and behold, I was never actually connected to their internet.
Right on track?!! I’ve used half my data and I still have 24 days, Verizon!! Someone send me a prepaid phone? The live went great otherwise, and I was able to help a couple of local gals decide if they wanted to make the drive over (shoutout to Jolene and Marissa!). If you want, you can catch the replay from the link below. If you don’t have an Instagram account, no problem. You can still watch it!

Now for the update about the store and the giveaway- the literal reason you are all here (you mean you don’t want to hear about all my backend technical difficulties? I’m offended). The West Elm Outlet in Vacaville, CA is currently getting up to 4 trucks a week because everyone loves them and their inventory turns over exceptionally fast. For that reason, you can now expect to find their furniture pieces at 30% off retail price. They are expecting a bit of a slow down in terms of furniture goods, but that just means there will be an uptick in other items you’ll love like candles, bedding, and accessories. Stephen did also mention that there may be another outlet opening up near their distribution center in Texas, so fingers crossed!
I wanted to take a moment to thank West Elm Outlet for supporting what I’m doing here and donating a giveaway prize. THANK YOU! It’s such a fun way to grow the community and support around outlet shopping, and I absolutely adore that the giveaway is open to ANYONE in the US- the prize will be shipped! I see a lot of sadness from folks that several states lack outlets or that they don’t have the brands they prefer nearby, so it was important to me to make this accessible for all. And what’s not to love about West Elm?!
UPDATE: GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED! The giveaway prize includes a gray waffle weave throw blanket and two tabletop planters (plant not included) and retails for $115 (thanks for giving me that total, Marissa!). This blanket is incredibly soft and cozy and the planters are equally amazing. Very “West Elm.”
