How To Find Home Décor “Dupes” In A Few Simple Steps

Ever wonder how people are able to find high end home decor knockoffs for half the price? I know I did! I constantly saw posts in my home décor social media groups like, “Does anyone know where I can find something like this for a more reasonable price?” Some magical sorcerer(s) usually commented with a nearly identical product for a fraction of the price. I was left a bit dumbfounded on A) how they were able to find something so similar and B) how they were able to do it 1 minute after the question was posed.

While this is primarily a blog about all things home décor outlet/pop-up sales/wholesaler and locating your nearest home décor outlet, I will also sneak in some other budget tips when applicable. Today, I will be giving some simple step-by-step instructions on how I quickly and easily find home décor “dupes” (aka reproductions/knockoffs)!

Step 1: Open up the Google Lens app. If you don’t already have this on your phone, you can download it from the App Store.

Step 2: Once the app is open, you’ll select the little camera icon to the right of the search bar.

Step 3: If you have a blog, you’ll locate a hot item to show your readers how to find a more affordable option, like the Serena and Lily Balboa dining chairs. You’ll also sweep away all of the breakfast remnants your children left all over the floor. Please excuse me as I struggle to capture a non-blurry photo for you. It is nearly impossible to take a screenshot (press center and lock button at the same time on an iPhone) whilst not getting my finger in the photo frame. Click the magnifying glass to start the search.

Step 4: Locate the little bar in the “Similar images” section at the bottom of the screen. Swipe up.

Step 5: Be amazed at all of the options out there for a much cheaper price! Pretty cool, right? Keep scrolling past the endless photo collage of Balboa dupes to find the steps for doing this with images off the web.

Step 1: To grab an image off the web you can do one of two things: take a screenshot or save the image to your photoreal. To take a screenshot, simply press the center button and the lock button at the same time. To save a photo off the web, press and hold on the image and “Add to Photos.”

Step 2: Open up the Google Lens app as outlined previously. This time, instead of clicking on the magnifying glass, you will select the photos icon to the left.

Step 3: Select the photo of the product you want to search. In this case, the Serena and Lily Riviera dining chair.

Step 4: Swipe up.

Step 5: Be amazed again.

It seems like a lot of steps when I type it all out but it’s really quick and easy. You can use this tool to help others locate their dupes (they’re always so grateful and also think you are a sorcerer!) or to see if there are more affordable options while you are out and about. Not every search will pull fantastic results. Sometimes, if I am not finding better options, I will select one of the choices they give me and rerun a new search. It usually pulls some different results. And that’s it!

Have you ever used this amazing search tool? Do you use a different method? Tell us what you scored (and how much you saved by doing so!) in the comments!
